OCKENDON ROAD
We remodelled the back of this 1850's house in Islington by reconfiguring the rear extension so that the intermediate floor could be
taken out and put back 200mm higher. Although this meant having a sloping ceiling in part of the bathroom, this was a very minor inconvenience
compared to the bonus of the additional height gained in the new kitchen downstairs. Sloping the glass roof sideways meant that it had no
impact on the party wall. It took us almost as long to persuade Islington that we did not need planning consent for the alterations as it
would have taken to formally apply for it. |
