The Spitalfields Historic Building Trust bought these four houses from Charrington's Brewery in 1991. Three of them had had the ground floor ripped
out so as to provide shops at street level. It took nearly four years to
put them back together as the restoration work had to be done on a rolling
process so that the sale of one house could fund the repair of the next. |
